Peter Jones has acted as counsel for parties on arbitrations and served as mediator on transport and insurance matters. He has appeared as counsel in the Supreme Court of Canada, both levels of the Federal Court of Canada, and the trial and appeal levels of the Courts of the Province of Ontario. He has been consulted as an expert on insurance and transport law by lawyers in other jurisdictions, including giving expert testimony.
He was the Chairman of the Maritime Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (1976 - 1980), a lecturer in Admiralty Law at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law (1973-1980) and was a member of the editorial Board of the Electronic Communication Law Review published by Kluwer Law International.
He is the past Chairman of the Advisory Body Legal Matters of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), and past Legal Counsel to the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association. He is the author of the FIATA Legal Handbook on Forwarding. He has written numerous articles on transport issues that have appeared in publications and on the internet.
