Louise joined Paterson, MacDougall LLP in May, 2008 after practising in Barrie, Ontario in the areas of Insurance Defence and Professional Liability.  She articled with the City of Toronto, Legal Services and comes from a family of municipal politicians.  She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Small Claims Court and has assisted or conducted research for actions heard at the Ontario Municipal Board, the Environmental Review Tribunal, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Prior to her call to the Bar, Louise worked as a research assistant with the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in their Residential Schools Research Branch as well as with the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in their National Security Directorate.

Publications: Louise has co-authored an article entitled “Video Surveillance Use by Municipalities in Ontario” for the OBA Privacy Law Review: Eye on Privacy.  She has also written and presented a paper at the 2009 International Municipal Law Association’s Canada Conference on the use of Facebook in litigation.  A variation of this paper was published by lexisnexis in their Municipal Risk Liability Management newsletter (July 2009 edition).  A copy of her paper can be found here.
