Susan joined Paterson, MacDougall LLP as an associate in 2009, after practising civil litigation with a Toronto litigation boutique.  Susan brings to pmlaw her extensive experience in litigating a broad range of insurance and other claims, involving commercial matters, product liability, professional negligence and personal injury.  Susan also continues to provide defence and coverage advice to national and international insurers in Commercial General Liability, Errors and Omissions and Directors and Officers claims, with a particular interest in the financial services sector; she having worked for nearly a decade in retail banking, prior to obtaining her law degree.  She also handles Estate litigation matters, including Will challenges and dependant relief claims.

Susan has appeared as counsel to insurers and individuals before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal, in cases involving commercial disputes, product liability, professional negligence, bodily injury, insurance coverage and wrongful dismissal.  Susan has also appeared before various tribunals, including the Employment Insurance Appeals Tribunal and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.

Member: Susan is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Defence Lawyers’ Association and the Medico-Legal Society.
