Louise participated in this year’s Law Day activities

Louise Vrebosch participated in this year’s Law Day activities on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010. She judged the quarter-finals of the Ontario Bar Association’s Secondary School Mock Trial Tournament. The calibre of students involved in the competition was exceptional, and pmlaw congratulates all participants.

Law Day is held every April to celebrate the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms and to inform and educate the public about the role and importance of the law. This year’s theme was “Access to Justice.” For more information, visit the Ontario Bar Association’s Law Day website.

Anna Gatova has recently been cast in Nightwood Theatre’s 2010 Lawyer Show production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Municipal Group attends YRP Appreciation Night Municipalities and Solicitor-client privilege
In an Application dealing with Toronto’s body rub parlour by-law, the Court looked at the “crime/fraud exception” to solicitor client privilege and its application to municipalities involved in litigation. A summary of the case can be found in our Municipal Library.

Municipal Group attends YRP Appreciation Night
Our Municipal Liability Group attended the York Regional Police Appreciation Night on April 22, 2010. In its 18th year, the YRPAN has raised over $2.7M for programs such as “the Youth Marching / Concert Band, Leo McArthur Youth Leadership Camp, Net Talk TTY implementation, Say No to Drugs Hockey Card Program, Crime Stoppers road signs, snowmobiles and trailer and underwater digital video camera.” Always entertaining, last night’s event included an Olympic montage, musical entertainment, WWII veterans as well as active soldiers, a display of police vehicles, artillery and the YRP canine unit and of course the awards to some of YRP’s finest. Congratulations to all recipients!
